The COVID-19 pandemic has presented Pacific Island governments with one of the greatest security challenges faced in the region’s history. Over the past two years, no aspect of policymaking has been spared the impact of the pandemic, with fundamental shifts in the region’s human security, traditional security, economic base and relations with external partners.

The crisis has demanded innovation and bold whole-of-nation policy responses. In this period, it is more important than ever for Pacific policymakers to connect with one another, share expertise, and communicate policy responses. It is in this spirit that the Pacific Security College has sought to track and analyse responses from national governments and Council of Regional Organisations in the Pacific (CROP) agencies through our long-standing Trendlines series, and now, through our interactive COVID-19 Pacific Response map.

In this map, you will see key facts, updated fortnightly, which reveal COVID-19 cases, deaths and vaccination rates across the region, as well as links to analysis from the College about the policymaking and security responses taken by governments to the pandemic.
