Towards a region of peace and security: From political vision to action

The theme of the 55th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders’ Meeting ‘B.E.L.A.U – Building Economies: Life. Action. Unity,’ reflects the Pacific’s shared commitment to unity, collective action and a resilient and prosperous Blue Pacific.

Achieving this vision requires a peaceful and secure region, supported by strong regional cooperation, trusted institutions and Pacific-led solutions. Leaders have articulated this through the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent, Boe Declaration on Regional Security, Blue Pacific Ocean of Peace Declaration, and Regional Peace and Security Action Plan 2026-2030.

As Secretary General Baron Waqa highlighted at the 2026 Pacific Peace and Security Dialogue, the region has the right policy settings; what is now required is the collective political will and coordinated delivery to translate these commitments into tangible outcomes.

This side event will explore how the Pacific can strengthen solidarity, cooperation and partnerships to move from strategic vision to practical implementation, ensuring a peaceful, resilient and secure region.

This event is hosted by the Palau Community College and the Pacific Security College.

It will also include the launch of the 2026 Pacific Peace and Security Dialogue Report.
